What is Hamas
Hamas is a Palestinian militant and political organization. It was founded in 1987 during the First Intifada, a Palestinian uprising against Israeli rule. Hamas is considered a terrorist group by some countries, including the United States and Israel. It has both a military wing, known for launching attacks against Israel, and a political wing that has gained power in the Gaza Strip, where it governs. Hamas's primary objectives include the establishment of a Palestinian state and the resistance against Israeli occupation, but its tactics and goals have been a source of controversy and conflict in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
